Artificial Intelligence, International Business, and Cultural Exchange: A Day at Celonis

In January, students from the Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University visited the Madrid branch of Celonis.

Celonis is a leading provider of process mining and operational excellence software. Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Munich, Germany, the company specializes in helping businesses optimize their operations by analyzing their processes and identifying inefficiencies. Celonis uses advanced data analytics and artificial intelligence to visualize and improve workflows, enabling organizations to streamline operations, enhance productivity, and drive digital evolution.

During the visit, the group had a full tour of their Madrid headquarters, including their offices, meeting rooms, and staff common areas, followed by a meeting with Celonis staff. During the meeting, various staff members illustrated the company’s business model, objectives, and values. Participants also had the opportunity to meet with Karla Rodriguez, head of the Travel & Expenses Finance department, who spoke about her role in the company. In explaining her responsibilities and projects, Rodriguez revealed that finance work is often dynamic and very rarely repetitive. Through the visit, students had the chance to better understand how large companies operate overseas, and to explore the impact of a different culture when conducting business.

This visit was part of a graduate global seminar for students enrolled in the Master of Accounting program at Neeley. Under the leadership of Neeley faculty George Drymiotes, Maia Kelton, and Mark Wills, participants travelled to Madrid before the beginning of the spring semester on campus.

The program had the goal of exploring accounting and business from a global perspective and in different cultural contexts. To meet this objective, students visited various Madrid-based businesses and participated in lectures by local scholars and professionals. In addition to these academic activities, the program also included various opportunities for students to dive into the local culture, from museums visits, to attending the traditional Three Kings’ Parade on January 5th.

Accent has extensive resources and experience in diverse customized business program models, including semester, quarter, and short-term programs, including programming designed for undergraduate, MBA, and Executive MBA cohorts.
