Communicating Fashion in Paris

This summer, students from the UCEAP Food, History, and Culture program in Paris stepped into the world of editorial design with the Fashion Media & Editorial Creation course. This class guided students across the history of fashion editorials— themed photoshoots— through the lenses of photography and film, learning to create in any media format, from print to digital. The city of Paris provided the perfect backdrop for this learning experience, giving students many sources for inspiration.

For their final project, students were challenged to create an original digital editorial and present it to the class. Each editorial included:

  • A unique concept with a clear story and vision
  • A moodboard with images and keywords used for inspiration
  • Technical details of the production process
  • A cover and five-page editorial with original photography, styled and edited to professional publication standards
  • A short video clip (up to 10 seconds) as part of the editorial

The results were as diverse and creative as the students themselves — spanning fashion, food, street photography, and studio shoots. Each project was presented in a magazine-style layout, bringing professional polish to their original ideas.

This was a milestone moment, and we are excited to see more studio art classes in future UCEAP programs developed in partnership with Accent. Congratulations to these students for their creativity, innovation, and storytelling through visual media!
