Multimedia in Madrid
Last summer, a contingent of USC communications students visited the headquarters of RaRo Film & Design, a creative agency specializing in multimedia advertising, branding, and audiovisual productions. RaRo crafts promotional films, corporate videos, and specialized multimedia campaigns. The students sat down with the company’s creator and owner, Rafael Sañudo. A former USC student himself, Sañudo was uniquely qualified to answer the questions of eager students ready to enter the industry and the challenges required in starting a business, especially in a new country. Rafael walked them through the history of RaRo, its current and former projects, and its role in the world of communications, branding, and advertising.
The visit gave the students a clear view of what one driven graduate can accomplish and how an entrepreneur can get started in an unfamiliar community.
This visit was part of the International Communication Studies Program, developed in partnership between Accent and the USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism. The program was a treasure trove of fascinating and influential visits within Madrid’s communications and media sector, from the digital newspaper El Confidencial to Spain’s public broadcast organization, RTVE.

In this age of mass communication, flexible multimedia brands, organizations unafraid to push the boundaries of marketing, journalism, and design will be the spearhead of the sector’s future. The students were ready to take advantage of this opportunity for professional development, as they engaged excitedly with the speakers and Rafael was more than happy to advise them on how best to break into the industry and what he sees for the future of the field.
